The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP; lit. 'Cockroach People's Party'), also known as the Cockroach movement,[3][4] is an Indian youth-based satirical political movement founded on 16 May 2026 by Gen Z who expressed their anger and dissent against the establishment by joining a Instagram account created by Abhijeet Dipke. It was created in response to both the leak of NEET (medical school entrance exam) and inspired by the remarks made on 15 May 2026 by Surya Kant, the Chief Justice of India, in which he referred to certain activists and unemployed youth as "cockroaches" and "parasites of society". The work 'Janta' is wordplay parodying the current ruling party in India, the Bharatiya Janata Party.[7]
The party through its Instagram account is gaining massive popularity, leading to mass youth demonstration beginning in June. The protests culminated in talks with the central government and the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, the Indian Minister of Education, on 25 July 2026.
